The Schools with Character™ Curriculum was developed trough the efforts of Life Connections, Inc. and Journal Jots Publishing. The curriculum focuses on helping educators, parents, and children to create the conditions for their school to become a more proficient learning community. Our belief is that character education is not a curriculum given to students to arbitrarily learn but a fundamental set of principles embraced by educators and community members to practice and live with students.
Unlike other character education strategies, The Schools with Character™ Curriculum is not a program but a set of ideas that each specific learning community can adapt and adopt for their distinct populations. It focuses on helping educators develop a set of skills that when applied will help their school and community to develop a less coercive climate that invites their students to become more independent and self-disciplined.
Our facilitators have provided workshops throughout Canada and the United States in Character Based Education Programs for the past twenty years. Their background includes work with school system, youth and family services, county correctional facilities, jails, mental health facilities, and various non-profit organizations.
