Mr. Smith started his career in 1973, when he founded and directed the first community based group home for youth ever established in West Virginia. This treatment center for adolescents used a little known model of management at that time called Reality Therapy. After conducting his graduate studies in Adolescent Development at Cornell University in 1980, Mr. Smith studied with Institute for Reality Therapy under William Glasser MD and in 1987 became a Faculty Member. |

Since that time, Glenn, with the use of Reality Therapy and it’s theoretical base, Perceptual Control Theory, have helped other organizations to develop programs that promote responsible decision making. Through the 1990’s Mr. Smith continued his career in North Carolina where he has consulted with hundreds of schools and organizations in the application of Perceptual Control Theory. In 1997, Glenn helped organize and develop and The International Association of Applied Control Theory (IAACT) in which he also serves as Senior Faculty Member.
Mr. Smith is a gifted counselor, life coach and strategist. He is a skilled mediator, trainer, and consultant who has provided coaching to counselors, educators, businesses and organizations throughout the
United States, Canada, Australia and Mexico. He is the founder of Life Connections, a private counseling and professional coaching organization near Charlotte, NC. He presently coordinates and teaches a Life Skill’s curriculum to inmates under the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Department. Glenn has been a foster parent for special needs' children and has co-authored the book Quality Times for Quality Kids and Schools With Character. Glenn lives in the Charlotte area with his wife Kelli and his teenage children Karlie and Taylor.
